Sushobhan Biswas, PhD
Postdoctoral Scholar
I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Jan lab. I did my undergraduate studies in Microbiology and completed a Master's degree in Biochemistry both at the University of Calcutta. Following this, I obtained my PhD from Department of Biochemistry, University of Calcutta under Professor Sanjit Dey. My doctoral research was focused on studying the molecular mechanisms of neuronal death with a special emphasis on smokeless tobacco. After my PhD, I joined the Jan lab at UCSF as a postdoc briefly before moving to VUMC with the lab. My current research is focused on inner ear biology, specifically studying the mechanisms of utricular hair cell regeneration using single cell RNA sequencing and lineage tracing approaches. Outside of work, I indulge in cooking, photography, and playing badminton.
